Major Pennant Semi Final Showdown

Woolooware Golf Club’s Major Pennant team has locked in a Semi Final showdown against Randwick Golf Club at Roseville Golf Club this Sunday, 15 March. After years of near misses, our team has finally secured their place in the Division 3 Semi Final with an impressive performance in Round 6.

Dramatic Road to the Semi Final

Going into Round 6, nothing was guaranteed. Officially sitting third on the ladder behind Monash and Royal Sydney, the team faced a crucial home match with their fate partly in the hands of Brighton Lakes. Wet and windy conditions complicated matters, but our boys rose to the challenge.

The team got off to a great start with most matches up or even at halfway. It was on the back nine where they truly dug deep, stretching out significant advantages as members and family cheered them on. Mitch and Chris delivered impressive 4 and 3 wins, while Kurt finished undefeated for the year with a 2 up victory. Dax and Andy both closed out their games 3 and 2.

As Jake and Robbie completed a remarkable 7-0 clean sweep, news arrived that Brighton Lakes had defeated top-of-the-table Monash, sealing Woolooware’s ticket to the Semi Final. The team was met with relief and jubilation after three years of narrowly missing out, including last year’s heartbreaking half-point margin.

Semi Final Details

This Sunday represents our biggest outing yet, with promotion to Division 2 and a Final at NSW Golf Club at stake. The match kicks off at 11:15am at Roseville Golf Club. Members who wish to support the team are warmly encouraged to join us for this crucial match.
