Major Pennants 2026 Kicks Off at Woolooware Golf Club

Strong Start to Major Pennants Season

Major Pennants 2026 is off and running, and Woolooware Golf Club has opened their campaign with an exciting 3.5-3.5 draw against Monash Golf Club. On Sunday, our team travelled to Monash GC for what turned out to be a thrilling day of competitive golf that went right down to the wire.

Kurt Rugless led us out at number 7 and set the tone with a strong 4&2 victory. After a couple of heavy losses in the middle of our order, Mitch Rugless steadied the ship with a clutch par up the 18th to secure a crucial 2up win. With the match finely balanced and the crowd growing, the pressure was on.

Dramatic Finish at Monash

Robbie Lancaster took his match up the 18th all squared up, and a solid par was enough to seal another victory for Woolooware Golf Club. In our number 1 match, Jake Hallinan was locked in a tough fight that could have gone either way. After losing the 16th and winning the 17th, the match was all square heading to the final hole.

Jake’s opponent narrowly missed his birdie putt on the 18th, leaving Jake with a tricky effort to win the match. His putt came incredibly close to dropping, making for a dramatic finish to an already exciting day of pennant golf.

Home Match This Sunday

It’s a great start to the season for our Major Pennants team, and we’ll be looking to back it up with a win at home this Sunday at 9:30am. We’d love to see as many supporters come down as possible to cheer on the boys as they take on their next opponents at Woolooware Golf Club.
